Packaging for Beauty Brands

Beauty packaging has to protect the product, present well on a shelf and arrive looking considered. Start with the product dimensions, closure and finish rather than choosing a box because it looks good in a photograph.

Use the product, route to customer and quantity to choose the right packaging specification.

Choose the structure around the product

Folding cartons work well for lighter retail products, while rigid presentation boxes suit giftable or premium launches. Mailer and corrugated formats are useful when the customer receives the product through the post.

  • Confirm the packed product dimensions, not just the bottle or jar.
  • Allow for inserts if the product must stay centred during delivery.
  • Decide whether the box is primarily for shelf presentation, shipping or both.

Plan print and finish together

A clean board, a restrained colour palette and one deliberate finish often create a stronger result than adding every available effect. We can discuss board, print coverage, coatings, foil and embossing during proofing.

  • Send your brand files or a reference image if the artwork is still in progress.
  • Ask for a structural sample when fit and protection are important.
  • Keep enough contrast between small type and the background colour.
