How to Compare Packaging Suppliers
A useful supplier comparison looks beyond the headline price. Compare the specification, support, proofing, production plan and delivery terms on a like-for-like basis.

Compare the complete specification
Make sure every supplier is quoting the same structure, dimensions, board, print coverage, finish, quantity and delivery destination. A lower price may reflect a different box or an incomplete brief.
- Ask what board and print process are included.
- Confirm whether the quote includes tooling, proofing, inserts or finishing.
- Compare the same quantity and target delivery date.
Ask how they handle artwork
A good supplier should explain how the dieline, artwork review and proof approval work. Clear ownership at this stage reduces avoidable production changes later.
- Ask whether a structural recommendation is included.
- Confirm how artwork changes and approvals are recorded.
- Request a sample when fit, colour or finish matters.
Check the plan after the quote
The best comparison is the one that leaves you clear about the next step. Ask when timing starts, who manages the project, what is confirmed after approval and how delivery will be planned.
- Confirm the production window after artwork approval.
- Ask who will answer questions during production.
- Check the delivery plan for your postcode and target date.
