Artwork and Dieline Checklist

A simple preflight checklist helps catch avoidable artwork problems before a proof is approved. Use it alongside the dieline and the final product specification.

Use the product, route to customer and quantity to choose the right packaging specification.

Check the structure first

Make sure the artwork is built on the correct dieline and that every panel is clearly understood. Confirm the front, back, lid, base, glue areas, folds and bleed before placing final artwork.

  • Use the latest dieline version supplied for the project.
  • Keep important copy and logos away from folds, cuts and glue areas.
  • Confirm the artwork matches the agreed internal and external dimensions.

Prepare the print files

Provide the cleanest artwork version available and make the file easy to review. Vector artwork is preferred where possible, with linked images, colours and fonts handled clearly.

  • Check image resolution and linked assets at the finished print size.
  • Outline fonts or include the required font files.
  • Confirm colour references, print sides and any special finishes.

Complete the final proof check

The proof is the last practical point to check the complete pack before production. Review copy, barcodes, dimensions, orientation, finishes and the physical product fit before approving it.

  • Check spelling, legal copy, ingredients and barcode readability.
  • Confirm the opening direction and artwork orientation.
  • Keep the approved proof and final specification for future reorders.
