Identify the pack component before choosing materials
Start by describing the product, its immediate container and the carton or grouping pack you need. Provide dimensions for the complete pack-out, including leaflet, tray and any accessories. If the packaging must meet a particular storage, barrier or handling requirement, identify it in the technical brief; a sustainability goal cannot be assessed separately from the product’s approved packaging needs.
Substantiate the environmental brief
Specify the exact outcome you want to support—such as a particular material, recycled-content level or disposal route—and request evidence for the complete pack, including coatings, labels and adhesives where used. CMA guidance says environmental claims need to be clear and supported; this source listing does not verify a certification, recycled content or recyclability for any named format.
Keep approved medicine information in control
If the pack is for a licensed medicine, use current approved artwork and obtain sign-off from the marketing authorisation holder or regulatory team. MHRA guidance applies to medicine packaging and labelling information in the UK. The carton supplier can confirm the agreed construction and print brief, but cannot certify the medicine, approve its label or replace the responsible team’s environmental evidence.
