Build the carton brief around the medicine pack
Start with the container or blister as supplied, including its closure and any leaflet. Share the packed dimensions, the number of units per carton and how the contents are arranged. If a tray, divider or tamper-evident feature is required, identify it in the brief rather than assuming it is part of a standard box.
Keep regulated copy under the licence holder's control
Send the approved artwork and text supplied by the marketing authorisation holder or responsible regulatory team. Confirm that the final printed carton follows the applicable product approval; this packaging enquiry does not determine required medicine labelling. MHRA guidance explains that it approves packaging and labelling information for medicines sold in the UK.
Information to include with the artwork
- Medicine container or blister dimensions
- Leaflet, tray or divider dimensions if included
- Approved artwork file and exact version
- Barcode, variable-data or print-area requirements
- Quantity by product and delivery postcode
Check print and assembly before sign-off
Identify any areas that must remain clear for codes, batch information or other approved data. Ask for the board, carton style, print method and assembly details to be stated in the quote. Have the proof checked by your regulatory contact before approving quantity, price and production timing.
